NRK Sápmi, which is the Sámi language division of the National Public Broadcaster NRK, commissioned Gárja for their Mánáid TV productions. Gárja means crow in Sámi language.

The series was a success, and the TV channel came back for a seagull boy named Skáhvli.
In the lovely ‘Rubbish Paradise’ the Rubbish King and Gárja live in peace and harmony – until Skáhvli the scavenger interrupts their peace. Skáhvli entered the scene as Gárja’s partner-in-crime.
Gárja has also featured in a new production where the theme is environment and recycling:
